Terms of Service

Welcome to Manga Vault. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Manga Vault mobile application ("App") operated by Manga Vault ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Manga Vault, you confirm that you:

  • Are at least 13 years of age
  • Have read and understood these Terms
  • Agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Manga Vault is a manga collection management application that allows you to:

  • Track manga volumes you own or want to purchase
  • Scan barcodes to quickly add manga to your collection
  • View series completion progress and statistics
  • Connect with friends and share your collection
  • Track lending of your manga to others
  • Earn achievements based on your collection activity

3. User Accounts

Account Registration

To use certain features of the App, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information during registration
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in behavior that may harm other users or the service.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of content you create in the App, including:

  • Profile information and avatar images
  • Collection data and personal notes
  • Any other content you submit

By using the App, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the service.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any illegal purpose
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Upload malicious content or attempt to compromise app security
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
  • Attempt to reverse engineer or decompile the App
  • Use automated systems to access the App without permission
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations

6. Subscription and Payments

Free and Pro Tiers

Manga Vault offers both free and paid subscription tiers:

  • Free Tier: Basic collection management with a limit of 50 volumes
  • Pro Tier: Unlimited collection, advanced features, premium themes

Payment Terms

If you purchase a Pro subscription:

  • Payment is processed through the Apple App Store
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled
  • Refunds are handled according to Apple's refund policies
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device settings

7. Referral Program

Manga Vault may offer a friend-referral program ("Referral Program") under which existing users ("Referrers") can share a personal invite code, and new users ("Referees") who redeem that code receive a reward, with a corresponding reward for the Referrer. The Referral Program is offered at our discretion and is subject to the following terms in addition to the rest of these Terms.

Eligibility

  • Invite codes can only be redeemed by new accounts, within 7 days of account creation. Codes cannot be applied retroactively to older accounts.
  • One invite code per account, ever. Once an account has redeemed a code, no further code can be redeemed on that account, and the attribution cannot be changed.
  • You cannot redeem your own invite code.

Rewards

  • When a Referee redeems a valid invite code and remains an active user through the qualification period, both the Referee and the Referrer receive one (1) free month of Manga Vault Pro.
  • The Referee's free month is granted after the qualification period. The Referrer's reward is granted after the Referee has remained active for 7 days following redemption.
  • Depending on your subscription state and platform, rewards may be delivered as a promotional Pro entitlement, an App Store offer code for the monthly Pro subscription, an extension of a Google Play subscription, or a banked Pro credit applied when your current subscription ends. The value is the same in each case: one month of Pro.

Limits

  • Referrer rewards are capped at 3 qualified referrals per rolling 90-day period and 12 reward months per calendar year. Referrals beyond these caps do not earn a Referrer reward (the Referee's reward is unaffected).

Fraud and Clawback

  • Rewards are conditioned on genuine referrals of real, distinct people. Self-referral, referring accounts you control, creating multiple accounts to harvest rewards, or any other manipulation of the Referral Program is prohibited.
  • We may reverse or withhold rewards obtained through prohibited conduct, and we may suspend or terminate accounts involved in Referral Program abuse, in accordance with Section 3 (Account Termination).

General

  • We may modify, suspend, or end the Referral Program at any time, including changing reward amounts, eligibility rules, or caps. Changes do not affect rewards already granted.
  • Rewards have no cash value, are non-transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash or other consideration, and may not be resold. Offer codes are single-use and expire per their stated terms.

8. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services including:

  • Amazon Web Services: For data storage and authentication
  • App Store and Google Play: For subscription billing and payment processing

Manga metadata and cover images come from Manga Vault's own curated catalog, not from third-party data providers. Your use of any third-party service is subject to its respective terms and privacy policy.

9. Affiliate Relationships

Manga Vault participates in retailer affiliate programs, including the Amazon Associates Program. When you tap a "Where to Buy" link in the app and subsequently purchase an item from the linked retailer, Manga Vault may earn a small commission from that retailer at no additional cost to you. These commissions help support the ongoing development and operation of Manga Vault.

Affiliate links are clearly disclosed within the app with the notice "Affiliate links • Supports Manga Vault." We do not modify retailer pricing or your purchase experience in any way — you pay the same price you would have if you had visited the retailer directly.

What We Track

When you tap an affiliate link, we log the tap event so we can understand which products and features of Manga Vault are most useful to our users. The information we log includes the volume's ISBN, the screen you tapped from (e.g., "series detail"), your Manga Vault user ID (if you are signed in), and your subscription tier (Free or Pro). We do not log your IP address, device identifiers, or browsing history. We do not share this tap-tracking data with the retailer or any third party.

What the Retailer Tracks

Once you tap an affiliate link, you leave Manga Vault and arrive at the retailer's website. The retailer (e.g., Amazon) then operates under their own privacy policy and may track your activity according to their terms. Manga Vault has no control over and assumes no responsibility for the privacy practices of any external retailer.

Your Choice

Affiliate links are entirely optional. You can purchase manga without using our affiliate links at any time, and no feature of Manga Vault is locked behind use of affiliate links.

10. Intellectual Property

The Manga Vault app, including its design, features, and content (excluding user content and third-party manga information), is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws.

Manga titles, cover images, and related information are the property of their respective publishers and creators. Manga Vault does not claim ownership of this content and uses it for identification and organizational purposes only.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • The App will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • All information (including manga metadata and pricing) will be accurate
  • The App will meet your specific requirements
  • Any errors will be corrected

Collection value estimates are for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon for financial decisions.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Loss of data, profits, or goodwill
  • Service interruptions or data breaches
  • Actions of other users

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Manga Vault and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the App
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights

14. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or via email. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

16. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that you may assert claims in small claims court if eligible.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Manga Vault regarding the App.
