Terms of Service

Welcome to MangaVault. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the MangaVault mobile application ("App") operated by MangaVault ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using MangaVault, you confirm that you:

  • Are at least 13 years of age
  • Have read and understood these Terms
  • Agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

MangaVault is a manga collection management application that allows you to:

  • Track manga volumes you own or want to purchase
  • Scan barcodes to quickly add manga to your collection
  • View series completion progress and statistics
  • Connect with friends and share your collection
  • Track lending of your manga to others
  • Earn achievements based on your collection activity

3. User Accounts

Account Registration

To use certain features of the App, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information during registration
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in behavior that may harm other users or the service.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of content you create in the App, including:

  • Profile information and avatar images
  • Collection data and personal notes
  • Any other content you submit

By using the App, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the service.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any illegal purpose
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Upload malicious content or attempt to compromise app security
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
  • Attempt to reverse engineer or decompile the App
  • Use automated systems to access the App without permission
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations

6. Subscription and Payments

Free and Pro Tiers

MangaVault offers both free and paid subscription tiers:

  • Free Tier: Basic collection management with a limit of 50 volumes
  • Pro Tier: Unlimited collection, advanced features, premium themes

Payment Terms

If you purchase a Pro subscription:

  • Payment is processed through the Apple App Store
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled
  • Refunds are handled according to Apple's refund policies
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device settings

7. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services including:

  • ISBN Database Services: For manga metadata and cover images
  • Amazon Web Services: For data storage and authentication

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

8. Intellectual Property

The MangaVault app, including its design, features, and content (excluding user content and third-party manga information), is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws.

Manga titles, cover images, and related information are the property of their respective publishers and creators. MangaVault does not claim ownership of this content and uses it for identification and organizational purposes only.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • The App will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • All information (including manga metadata and pricing) will be accurate
  • The App will meet your specific requirements
  • Any errors will be corrected

Collection value estimates are for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon for financial decisions.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Loss of data, profits, or goodwill
  • Service interruptions or data breaches
  • Actions of other users

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MangaVault and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the App
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or via email. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

14. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that you may assert claims in small claims court if eligible.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MangaVault regarding the App.
